PM Modi launches Bima Sakhi Yojana– Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Bima Sakhi Yojana in Panipat, Haryana on 9 December 2024. This scheme of Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) aims to empower women and make insurance accessible to every section. This initiative will create employment opportunities for 2 lakh women and is a big step towards fulfilling the dream of insurance for all by 2047.

The program was inaugurated in the presence of Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Its special focus is on increasing insurance awareness and financial literacy in rural India.

The aim of Bima Sakhi Yojana is to train women as LIC insurance agents, so that they not only earn income but also bring financial empowerment to their families and communities.

Who can apply?

  • Age: Women between 18 and 70 years.
  • Education: At least 10th pass.

Who cannot apply?

  • Existing LIC agents or their family members.
  • Retired LIC employees.

What are the benefits?

Stipend:

  • First year: ₹7,000 per month.
  • Second year: ₹6,000 per month (with conditions).
  • Third year: ₹5,000 per month (with conditions).

Commission:

  • You will get a commission of at least ₹48,000 for selling 24 policies in the first year.

Career Growth:

  • After completing three years of training, women can become LIC agents, which will give them a stable source of income.
