The entire nation will celebrate the first National Space Day on August 23, 2024. This year’s theme is “Touching the Moon, Touching Lives: India’s Space Saga.”
On August 23, 2023, India became the fourth country to land on the Moon and the first to reach its southern polar region. To honor this historic achievement, the Honorable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, declared August 23 as “National Space Day.”
On July 14, 2023, Chandrayaan-3 was launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. The spacecraft successfully entered the lunar orbit on August 5, 2023.

India’s lunar exploration mission began with Chandrayaan-1 on October 22, 2008, using the PSLV-C11 launch vehicle.
Chandrayaan-2:
Launched on July 22, 2019, Chandrayaan-2 included an orbiter, lander, and rover, with the launch vehicle being GSLV MkIII-M1.
